Among the main objectives of this program is the proposed development of the project “Resilience to Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease” (ASCVD) over the next four years. This project, associated with the program, aims to gain a deeper understanding of the factors that determine cardiovascular health and to uncover why certain individuals remain resistant to the development of ASCVD despite being exposed to common risk factors.

The project is structured around five complementary objectives, integrating prospective and interventional trials, cutting-edge non-invasive imaging studies, multi-omics analyses (including single-cell studies) to identify biomarkers and new therapeutic targets, the development of biobanks, and research using cell cultures and animal models to elucidate molecular mechanisms and support reverse translational research.

With this initiative, the program seeks to establish a multidisciplinary framework that not only focuses on ASCVD prevention but also promotes a holistic approach to healthy aging and improved quality of life
